TAKE A WALK is a play on words for two reasons: (1) I am a hiker and Jesus has always met me on the trails and (2) biblically we are called to walk in the light (Isaiah 2:5), walk in grace (Hebrews 4:16), walk in the Lord (Ephesians 4:1), and walk in the spirit (Galatians 5:16). Our faith in this world is not a mere decision or moment in time but a walk, meaning responsibility and actions are required of us. It is a lifelong journey of striving to exemplify Jesus and proclaim His name.
My heart longs for the believers who are seeking answers and guidance in what this looks like; hearts struggling with understanding their salvation, who Jesus is to them, how they are supposed to move on from their past, and just desiring to love and know Jesus more. I am here to write about it, coach it, and teach it- because figuring out that I was not too far gone for Jesus is a truth that someone else needs to hear too.
"Then Jesus said to His disciples, 'if anyone would come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross and follow me'." Matthew 16:24
Our stories give us the chance to build a biblical foundation, intimate relationships, and invite others in to the truth.
In order to faithfully walk we need a foundation with which to take the steps. So, when we fall or stumble, we remain in His arms.
Our stories tell us exactly who Jesus is to us and therefore who we are in Him. We humans are also intrigued by vulnerability- we can go deeper with our brothers and sisters through our stories.
For those that feel they are too far gone, too broken, too dirty, or not worthy- we can witness to them that those are lies and the truth is that Jesus has already forgiven them.
I enjoyed how Bible-based the teachings were and always came away feeling like I had learned something new and spent time with someone who really knows the Lord. It has encouraged me that this season of online community isn't a be all end all, or something to be discouraged about. For now, I will work on deepening my faith by reading my Bible thoughtfully and prayerfully each day. I have let go of shame and doubt and am more fully living the season of life that God has me in.
This program helped me take a look back to see where God has taken me. It helped me establish some fears in my life, where I may struggle with shame, and how to live with a filter of the gospel. Eternity was made large and the here and now was made important, but small. This program is for the new believer and the seasoned.
You certainly pulled me closer to understanding my own story. Long story short I have been able to share my story fearlessly to others, not just friends but to new people in my life, a sports coach, a colleague, a not so close friend. Shaking off the shame that comes with it has allowed me to testify of God transformation in my life. and I just think Wow, I get to share this story all my life, its power will never change, and it is ever growing.
Understand and dissect your testimony + help your community do it too!
